tights tights tights

so i'm not really sure whether i am a little too late for the whole tights trend that's about but all i know is they are fast becoming my 'must wear with everything!' wardrobe item and i can't get enough. going home this past week has given me access to gems purchased over the years which have not been worn anywhere near enough......probably only once or twice even and today despite the gloomy winter weather i am wearing some topshop floral print tights from spring 09 which i bought too long ago to remember and have been worn once before.
here are a few of my faves.....ones i want and one i have already!.

Pyrus Inspired Designs

i've stumbled upon images of my print designs from my previous unit of work before christmas, our brief was to designs prints for the brand Pyrus for Autumn/Winter 2010/11. Inspiration came from the 80's, synaptic brain activity and blooming florals. I took these ideas and the colour scheme involving dark muted colours with high contrast colour blasts of cobalt blue and acid pink and experimented with photography of ink blooms in water and line/mark making!. here our some of my final designs, pictures of my printed tunics are yet to be found!.x

Barbie

having just finished my dissertation on Barbie i am instinctively drawn to anything related to her!. finding these a little too late to pop them in but still loving them i thought i would show them anyway, i came across the site of french artist Jocelyne Grivaud who has used the doll as inspiration for her work, placing her in iconic images from Warhol's famous prints, Coco Chanel's iconic images to works of various artist. take a peek here for more!.
plastic is fantastic!.

Decode & Pop Life

having been told i would love the Decode exhibition at the V&A and needing some inspiration for my next project i headed there last Friday, i loved the work on show and how so many of the pieces were interactive. Both Karsten Schmidt and Aaron Koblin's work stood out to me for their us of colour shape and line. An innovative exhibition a would recommend.

Aaron Koblin, Flight Patterns

following on i checked out the Pop life exhibition at the Tate Modern, having al
ways been a fan of the movement i had high expectations for the pieces on show. in particular the use of colour and sound stood out for me.....i especially liked how fitting the music was in some rooms and its something to consider with my own work and designs!.

love!.

having been a fan of Pop Magazine for too long i was more than a little upset to discover Katie Grand was leaving.....this all changed when i discovered her latest bi-annual super glossy LOVE. a fan since day one issue 3 looks promising when it comes out in February featuring model of the moment and Louis Vuitton campaign girl Lara Stone.

check out their blog here x

avatar

last week i finally managed to see Avatar, i wasn't expecting much but had heard too many good things to pass up on giving it a cheeky peek. i was also excited to have my first 3D film experience. the visuals of the world Pandora are breath taking and the images i have found do not do enough justice i feel. as soon as the film takes you into the jungle/forest i was amazed. the colours and lighting create a true visual experience, one of a magical beauty. from the fauna and flora to the animals said to inhabit Pandora each was a vision of colour and pattern. stunning inspiration!.
