so finally my photoshoot has been done! will be going to see the images later on this week. so excited that progress is finally being made after all the other busy stuff, next i am looking at web designers to create a site show casing my work.

On the gloomy, rainy summer days at this time of the year, my thoughts often turn to winter clothing. Having just been reminded of what's going to be on offer this coming season thanks to the August issues of Vogue and Elle, I think this Burberry ad campaign image shows my most wished for item.....the Aviator jacket.

Not something that is typically me but for some reason I loved it on the catwalks and still love it now. Will be looking to see what the high street has to offer as Burberry is most definitely no where near my price range.

sales

my recent shopping trips have taken their toll on me, leaving me drained rather than with that buzzing feeling of a new purchase that may you couldn't afford but 'just had to have' because it looks fantastic, makes you feel amazing and will make you the envy of others.

i am normally a firm believer in retail therapy but for the past week i have associated shopping with mixed feelings of dread, anxiety and even boredom. there are 2 reasons to blame for this; the first being the reason for my shopping trips, the cause for my negativity, the search for a dress for my grad ball this coming weekend. in order to find the perfect dress, i had to move away from my normal high street hunting grounds for fear of the ultimate on the night disaster.......seeing someone else wearing your dress. the pressure to find such a dress that fitted my wish list, was unlikely to be worn by anyone else and was right for the occasion made shopping a chore rather than enjoyment. Possibly another consideration was that after keeping a lookout for the past couple of weeks but with nothing catching my eye, I was down to the realisation that my deadline was in less than a week and with no potential options, I was forcing myself into finding something.

The second reason for my recent bad experiences have been the sales. I am not a huge fan of sales at the best of times, they make stores look messy, it's an excuse to bring out old stock that is way past looking good, and the key thing i've found lately is that they lead to a shortage of fully priced, wearable items in all stores. In so many retail establishments I found that the front of the store was dedicated to rails of garments that either looked awful (on and off the hanger) or were lovely but in the sizes that are always left and that no one seems to wear. To dedicate so much space when sales have been running for some weeks now seems confusing at best and made my trips far less fruitful.

shopping in sales has potential within the first day or two at most or until the true 'bargin pieces' have been snapped up and then seems to be a waste of time for all involved, especially those who, like myself, are willing to pay full price and would appreciate the normal range of items to choose from.

Dior

not normally a lover of couture but Galliano's collection for Dior Couture Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 is mind blowing. as i'm a big fan of colour it's easy to tell why i love it so much, the bright shades are mesmorising. above are some of my favouries!.

latest purchase

having missed out on many ones i have loved when i have been skint, and when not being able to find one i love on the rare occasions i have money, i have put to use my birthday vouchers and invested in a playsuit.

loving the print and the shoulder ruffles on this topshop one i've bought and cannot wait to wear it.

new designers

so i am a little late with this one but here is a standard i'm showing my work at new designers note!. i was told i'd been picked from the shortlist last week but it still hasn't properly sunk inwhat with organising the fash/on show which is fast taking over my very existance.

anyway massively excited and cannot wait to exhibit and also have a look around at everything else on show.

tea & cake

so this was from last week and i am aware i look like a small child with chocolate on my lips despite not having had a nibble at this point but to anyone....go to the tenth hole tea rooms in southsea and indulge yourselves!.

my double chocolate fudge cake with about a million other additions was epic and despite being helped i came no where near finishing it.

amazing!.x

marlow

so this weekend i have been on a little trip to Marlow for a friends birthday and for a rather lovely day at the regatta on Saturday. I've never been to one before but it was an excuse for everyone to dress up, picnic and drink pimms in the sunshine.

Posters

Lately my role within FASH/ON has been designing all the posters, booklets, leaflets and promotional materials, everything is finally at the printers and waiting for proof reading tomorrow. So for now here is my latest handiwork!.x

so my graduate fashion show was on friday and all went as a success, I kept it in the family with 2 of my sisters modelling my looks down the catwalk and was amazed that everything went so successfully. I am yet to hunt down or find any of the pics from the many photographers who were about but it was a good practice for the FASH/ON show that is soon approaching.

I am waiting on my final marks for my FMP project so that i have a better than vague idea of how my degree will turn out, i am not the most patient person and also waiting to hear if i have been chosen from the shortlist for New Designers is a bit frustrating when I dwell for too long and especially as I am not an optimistic person but hopefully I will know soon.

anyway after a recent rummage in the loft i have come across a new/old pentax slr camera complete with a range of lens' so have been snapping away this weekend hoping for a good outcome and that the camera still works as good as new!.

FASH/ON

So recently my blogging has been minimal but check out www.fashswitch.blogspot.com to see what's been keeping me busy blogging for the past week.

FASH/ON consists of myself and fellow graduates from the University of Portsmouth who have been fund raising all year in order to show our graduate collections in London. Being the first year to try and do so there have been struggles but now we're on the final push to make it a success. At present I have just finished designing the invite seen in the post below and am helping to design our accompanying booklet.

caught in movement

for my fmp i have chosen to look at movement and here are some of the early research photos i took of light movement. this involved standing at the edge of a dual carriageway one night and using a long exposure setting to record the movement of car headlights/tail lights.

mulberry

i love Mulberry's collection for a few reasons...... these being that some models were accompanied down the runway by an adorable pug (i loveee pugs), the soundtrack the models walked to was the Bare Necessities, the dresses pictured above in particular are amazing and finally i love the use of high saturated colour blasts combined with black and gold.

also the intensity of the prints creates high impact which i love!.

tights tights tights

so i'm not really sure whether i am a little too late for the whole tights trend that's about but all i know is they are fast becoming my 'must wear with everything!' wardrobe item and i can't get enough. going home this past week has given me access to gems purchased over the years which have not been worn anywhere near enough......probably only once or twice even and today despite the gloomy winter weather i am wearing some topshop floral print tights from spring 09 which i bought too long ago to remember and have been worn once before.

so despite being swamped with work and deciding on my fmp theme there are still important decisions to be made....what to do with my last remains of christmas money.....is it to be spent on hair extensions (i have been wanting these forever) or my current lust the lomo fisheye 2 camera so i can go out and get snap happy?.
